What is Growing

Growing cannabis is an exciting and accessible process for both beginners and experienced growers. In this article, we will take a detailed look at how to properly plant cannabis, choose the right growing location, provide optimal conditions, and achieve a high-quality harvest.

High-quality cannabis seeds for cultivation

Choosing Seeds and Germination

The right choice of seeds and successful germination are the keys to a good harvest. You can buy high-quality cannabis seeds on our website. We guarantee the quality of all the products we offer. Let’s take a look at how to choose the right strain and prepare seeds for planting.

How to Choose Seeds

The success of cultivation largely depends on the seed quality. There are feminized, autoflowering, and photoperiod strains. Beginners are advised to start with autoflowering cannabis strains as they are easier to grow and have a short life cycle.

Germinating Seeds

To germinate seeds, it's best to use damp cotton pads and place them in a warm spot (+24...28 °C). Usually, within 2–5 days, the seeds sprout a small white root. This method ensures good germination and allows for control of early growth conditions.

Planting Cannabis

Planting cannabis seeds into soil

Once the seeds have sprouted, it's important to plant them properly so the plant can develop healthily. Let’s find out how and when to do it.

How to Plant Cannabis Properly

A sprouted seed with a root about 1 cm long should be gently planted into a small pot with loose, nutrient-rich soil at a depth of 1–2 cm. You can also find high-quality cannabis fertilizers on our website. Place the seed root-down, lightly cover it with soil, and water gently. Until the first leaves appear, you can cover the pot with plastic wrap to create a mini greenhouse.

When to Plant Cannabis Outdoors

Outdoor planting should be done after the last frost, when nighttime temperatures are consistently above +10...15 °C — typically from late April to mid-May. Autoflowering strains can be planted earlier, as they are less sensitive to temperature fluctuations compared to photoperiod strains.

Choosing a Growing Environment

Choosing between indoor and outdoor cannabis cultivation

The growing environment has a significant effect on the final result. Growers must choose between outdoor or indoor cultivation based on their resources.

Outdoor Growing

This is the most natural method, ideal for those who have access to a plot of land. The main requirements are plenty of sunlight, fertile soil, and protection from wind. It's a good idea to enrich the soil beforehand with organic fertilizers and ensure the plants are discreetly located.

Indoor Growing

Indoor growing allows full control over conditions. To grow cannabis successfully indoors, you need:

  • To install quality lighting (LED or HPS lamps).
  • Provide fresh air with proper ventilation.
  • Monitor humidity (40–70%) and temperature (+20…28 °C).

Plant Care

Regular care is key to successful cultivation. Learn how to properly light, water, and feed your plants.

Lighting and Light Schedule

Lighting plays a critical role in cannabis growth. During the vegetative stage, maintain 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness. Autoflowers can also thrive with a 20/4 schedule. Photoperiod strains should be switched to 12/12 to initiate flowering.

Watering and Feeding

Here are some simple but crucial rules:

  1. Water regularly but avoid overwatering.
  2. Use only clean, settled water.
  3. During vegetative stage, use nitrogen-rich fertilizers.
  4. During flowering, switch to phosphorus and potassium-rich nutrients.

Growth and Flowering Stages

All growth stages of a cannabis plant

Cannabis goes through several developmental stages. Understanding these stages helps you care for your plants and maximize yield.

The vegetative stage lasts 3 to 8 weeks, during which the plant grows leaves and stems. Flowering begins when photoperiod strains receive less light daily, while autoflowers begin flowering automatically after about 3–4 weeks. Flowering can last from 6 to 12 weeks depending on the strain.

Harvesting and Drying

The final stage is harvesting and processing. The quality of the final product depends heavily on proper drying and curing.

The plant is ready for harvest when about 70–80% of the pistils darken and trichomes turn milky white. Harvest in the morning, then carefully trim the leaves around the buds.

Dry the buds in a cool, dark place at +18…24 °C for 1–2 weeks. Then proceed to curing. Learn how to cure buds properly here.

By following these simple and proven tips, you will be able to successfully grow cannabis and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
