How to care for marijuana

Like any living creature, the cannabis plant also needs care. The basics of proper care are maintaining the correct temperature and humidity, regular watering, feeding fertilizers and competent training. The ideal temperature can be called the interval between 21 and 28 degrees. Humidity during the growing season is acceptable from 50 to 75%, and during the flowering period 40 - 50%. Watering should be carried out as needed. A young shoot drinks a little liquid, while a dense flowering bush needs much more water. Fertilize the plant according to the manufacturer's instructions. There is also a simple rule in the cannabis world: “It is better to underfeed than to overfeed”.

Rookie mistakes

Beginner growers often make mistakes. Of these, it is worth highlighting the two most popular:

  • Overflow

A miscalculation can be determined by sluggish and elastic foliage at the same time. In the event of soil flooding, it is required to drain it as much as possible. Then watering stops until hemp returns to its previous state.

  • Overfeeding

Inexperienced growers may assume that more nutrients will benefit cannabis. Unfortunately, this is not the case, it is easy for a plant to catch an “overdose” and subsequently get sick. When overfeeding, marijuana is stopped feeding with an extra component until complete recovery, and in advanced cases, the soil is washed.

Pruning the lower leaves of marijuana

Pruning excess foliage at the cannabis vegetative stage helps to improve the growth of the main branches and further formation of cones on them. The well-being of the plant improves when the light falls on a large part of it, and the air freely walks in the thick of the crown. It is necessary to cut the leaves that are not exposed to the rays of light and the lower branches that are in the shade. You do not need to remove all unwanted foliage at one time. You should let the cannabis recover from stress, and then repeat the procedure. Plucking the tops begins after a set of thick green mass, approximately in the third week from the appearance of the shoot.

Pruning marijuana during flowering

During the flowering period, hemp also needs pruning. At this time, the plant works hard, stopping growth and providing inflorescences with everything necessary. The process can be called the main one in the life of cannabis, after which the bush should give offspring and die rapidly. By removing unwanted leaves, the grower puts some stress on the marijuana, but the process allows more nutrients to be channeled into future buds. You should get rid of leaves that receive little light, as well as inflorescences from the shady side of the branches. There is not enough light reaching them, which will prevent the buds from developing properly.
